How to Make a Friendship Bracelet

Interested in making matching bracelets with all your friends? Here is an easy, step-by-step guide on how to make a simple friendship bracelet in less than one hour!

To get started, you will need
the following materials:

ü  Ruler
ü  Pair of scissors
ü  4 colors of string
ü  A roll of tape

Step 1: Measure out the string by wrapping each color of string around the ruler (long ways) three times. Each color will measure out to be about 36″ in length.

Note: You may pick out any four colors you desire and can also
measure the string to any desired length—36″ is just my recommendation.

Step 2: Now that each color is the same length, align the strings and tie a knot that will leave about an inch of excess string. This inch of string will be necessary at the end to tie it around your wrist and also helps to hold down the bracelet as you make it.

Step 3: Tear off a piece of tape, and tape down the inch of excess string to a hard, flat surface. Figure out the color order, then separate each string in that order. You are now ready to start making your bracelet!
Keep in mind: You will be working from left to right.

Step 4: Starting from the left with your first color (white), hold the second string (pink) firmly as you wrap the first string around it (Figure 1).

Step 5: Tie the knot into it by bringing the first string under the second, looping it around (Figure 2), and then pulling up the knot to the top of the bracelet (Figure 3). Do this action a total of two times (Figure 4).

Step 5: Continue tying the first string into each remaining string two times for each color, then repeat this with the next color by following the same process. You will continue this with each color until you reach your desired bracelet length.

Step 6: When you reach the end, tie another knot at the opposite end.

Step 7: Cut off any excess string beyond one inch.

Step 8:  Tie your bracelet around your wrist and show it off to all your friends!

After mastering this design, try out new colors and challenge yourself with more advanced patterns!
